Re: Career Switch to SAP after 25 years in the IT Industry - Options?

Hi Milind

What have you read about SAP so far and is there anything in particular that interests you?

Have you considered trying to leverage your project management skills and become a SAP Project Manager? You will not be hands on in the system but you would learn a little about a lot and leverage any of your skills with resourcing, budgeting, leadership, coordination, planning, etc (so much depth in project management space).

If there is a large project you may be able to specialise further as an Infratructure/Technicla Project Manager who becomes responsible for managing the technical teams like Infrastructure people, System Administrators (Basis and you OS/DB Administrators), Developers, Security, etc. This depends on the project structure.

Unless you are working for an employer who uses SAP you may find it difficult to completely switch careers (particularly if you need to financially support yourself whilst you do so)

Regards

Colleen
